PJ resides in unceded Haudenosaunee land, otherwise known as Central New York. They have lived both in New York and California since 2002. They grew up in the state of Jujuy, in Northwestern Argentina. They are thrilled to welcome you to this nesting habitat. Read below for a few more details about my journey.
Storying lives...
While my family did not possess substantial wealth in terms of financial or entrepreneurial exigencies, we were never deprived of the resources that enriched our wellbeing. My grandmother was not only an apocryphal source behind an unwritten book of recipes for home remedies but also an officiant of healing rituals. Together, they instilled in me a sense of humbling ingenuity. My grandmother was far from helpless when faced with unfamiliar symptoms or manifestations of ailments. She ceremoniously applied a principle of analogy to recommend a sensible treatment. If a new symptom bore resemblance to an ailment she had encountered before, she would proceed with a tried- and- true remedy. For instance, when her grandchildren came home with a skin rash, she would soothe it with iced lavender tea. When bug bites led to allergic reactions, she applied her trusted home remedy for skin inflammation.
Coming from a background where peasant life and city dwelling converge, I inherited in part my grandmother's subaltern knowledge. At the very least, she passed lessons onto me, teaching me about the supranatural, entangling, and codetermining link between environment and embodiment. While I wouldn’t encounter the concept of dual complementarity until later in life, my grandmother made me an engaged witness and co‑inspirator of the principles of growth and the latent healing potential it harbored. She was instructing me on the fleshy dexterity that allows subjectivities to veer sideways and away from the Eurocentered matrix of knowledge and physiology.
