Scholar

group of people posing in what seems to be a performance or art setting, surrounded by props like tree branches and colorful feathers. The atmosphere looks creative and theatrical.

PJ is the author of Sideways Selves: Travesti and Jotería Struggles across the Américas. They have co-edited two books, Trans Philosophy  and Speaking Face to Face: The Visionary Philosophy of María Lugones. As a scholar who straddles the boundaries between university and community, PJ reflects on acts of intellectual, political, and aesthetic creation among social groups who have often been barred or expelled from institutions of higher learning. PJ is in awe of people who, facing dispossession like she did in her childhood, cultivate, long for, and seek communal healing and care. In her writings and presentations, PJ gravitates toward scholarship that materializes the mysterious chemistries of selves-in-relation. PJ refuses to see, experience, and understand themself as the
sole creator of their writings. Explore other corners of PJ's nest and learn about what incubates within. If interested, check PJ's history of academic employment here
